Self-love sometimes loving yourself can feel like an uphill battle. It would seem natural to love, yourself, so why is it so hard?

You might feel like you want to love yourself, and you understand how important it is, but the thoughts in your mind automatically default to negative. It’s like there’s a glass wall in your mind – you can see through to the green pastures on the other side, but you can’t get there. That’s because your conscious mind might understand one thing, but your subconscious mind has bad programming.

Once we get used to thinking a certain way, we need to bombard ourselves with positivity to reprogram our minds and get them back on track.

Healthy boundaries are a very important aspect of self-care and they are crucial for your wellbeing. Boundaries can be emotional, psychological, and physical. For example,  it’s very important for you to tell someone not to touch you if it makes you feel uncomfortable but it is just as important to ask them not to call you or make emotional demands off you if you don’t want them to. The first thing you need to know about setting boundaries is that you are under no obligation to explain yourself. You can simply and firmly say “no” to something you don’t want to do and you shouldn’t feel that you need to explain.

defined as “love of self” or “regard for one’s own happiness or advantage”, has been conceptualized both as a basic human necessity and as a moral flaw, akin to vanity and selfishness, synonymous with amour propre, conceitedness, egotism, narcissism, et al. Self-love can be taught in childhood through honesty, acceptance, and unconditional love. Since most parents have their own self-doubts and limiting beliefs, they project these onto their children and the cycles of self-rejection and self-abuse repeat themselves.[citation needed]

In 1956 psychologist and social philosopher Erich Fromm proposed that loving oneself is different from being arrogantconceited, or egocentric. He proposed that loving oneself means caring about oneself, taking responsibility for oneself, respecting oneself, and knowing oneself (e.g. being realistic and honest about one’s strengths and weaknesses). Loving myself. What does loving oneself really mean?

Self love may take the form of relaxing hot showers, calming baths, scented candles, enjoying a cup of coffee while reading your favorite book, going for a jog, finding clothes you like, treating yourself to a spa day, and good food. Is loving ourselves being able to look in the mirror for once without criticizing our own bodies? Is loving ourselves finally feeling content with where we are at in life? Is loving ourselves being able to be happy for both yourself and others when we achieve success? Does loving ourselves involve speaking and thinking kindly of ourselves?

Does loving ourselves include listening to our needs and putting ourselves. Ask the people in your life to keep you accountable for your progress. We’re often scared of being completely truthful about the depths of what we feel because we’re subconsciously afraid of judgment. Be mindful of who you’re comfortable telling and the people you choose to confide in.


I often joke that my best friend is my “human diary” as I have (thankfully) been able to be mostly transparent about what I feel when I confide in her, despite how ugly it may be. In some sense, accountability also works as ‘external pressure’ — an extra motivation to become better versions of us. This could be progressed. so self-love is a major role in our life.

If you’re totally new to the practice of self-love then start with focusing on nourishing yourself. Nourishing your body is the most basic form of loving yourself, so this week become mindful of what you put in your body – give it what it loves. Start your day with a green smoothie, treat yourself to a raw chocolate snack and make time to cook yourself a nutritious dinner full of superfoods. The way we feed ourselves reflects how we love ourselves. So get good at nourishing yourself and you’ll lay strong foundations for self love
